Are you searching for an Admiral’s Quarters review and wondering if it’s the right place to stay for your trip to Kure Beach?
Your Search ends here!
I recently stayed at the Admiral’s Quarters and I’m here to satisfy your curiosity!
For the past twenty years, I’ve been a regular at Kure Beach – it’s been my go-to for everything from day outings and school field trips to those cherished week-long family getaways.
During these trips, we’ve often chosen spacious house rentals for lodging, especially during summer when we gathered with extended family for a beach vacation.
But let me tell you about my latest adventure at Kure Beach. This time around, it was just me and my youngest daughter, and we loved our stay so much that I just had to share my Admiral’s Quarters review with you.
Admiral’s Quarters Review Overview
Just a 2 minute walk away from the Kure Beach Pier, the Admiral’s Quarters is located conveniently near Ocean Front Park, local restaurants, and shops, all while treating you to sun-kissed ocean views.
Sure, it’s one of the more affordable accommodations with rates starting as low as $60 a night in the off season, and peaking up to $325 when it’s time for people to flock to the summer sun and sand, but let me tell you, this beach side gem has plenty to offer.
From its convenient amenities to the warm welcome you’ll get from the staff, not to mention the roominess of the accommodations and the strategic location that puts everything within arm’s reach, this place is a total win for your beach escape.
I only stayed at the Admiral’s Quarters for one night night, but that was all it took for me to know without a doubt: I’ll happily book another stay here for a future trip.
Admiral’s Quarters Review: Pros
As both as a travel agent and an avid explorer, I’ve had the pleasure (and sometimes, the not-so-pleasure) of encountering a wide variety of hotels and accommodations.
Over time, I’ve developed a knack for analyzing hotels, motels, resorts and rentals not based on my own preferences, but rather by looking into details that truly matter.
While I’m more than happy to share my personal take on a property – the good, the bad, and the downright quirky – I firmly believe in empowering you, my clients and readers to form their own judgments.
After all, what’s perfect for one traveler might not quite hit the mark for another.
That’s why my ratings are rooted in objective criteria, focusing on how well a property aligns with the standards of its respective hotel category.
Now, onto The Admiral’s Quarters Review in picturesque Kure Beach, NC, which has earned itself a respectable 4/5 on my personal rating scale for a budget friendly, ocean front motel.

It’s time dive into the details as I sing the praises of The Admiral’s Quarters in picturesque Kure Beach, NC.
Ammenities
When it comes to booking a seaside motel, I often brace myself for slim pickings in terms of amenities. But I must admit, there were some that caught my attention, alongside the obligatory FREE Wi-Fi.
Top of the list? Their generous FREE parking.
In an area where finding a parking spot can feel like winning the lottery (street side parking is $5 an hour or $20 for the day), the Admiral’s Quarters bucks the trend by not nickel-and-diming guests for a place to park.
For those looking to make a splash without battling the sandy shores and waves, they have a quaint outdoor pool ready and waiting.
That’s not all! Imagine my delight when I stumbled upon FREE water bottles placed snugly in the coffee station basket, a thoughtful touch that didn’t go unnoticed.
And nestled between the pool and the beach lies a charming picnic area and covered terrace, complete with benches —a perfect spot for some seaside relaxation.
Spacious Rooms
At the Admiral’s Quarters the rooms are as spacious as the seven seas and as varied as the treasures of a pirate’s chest.
Choose from standard king or queen rooms to poolside paradises, oceanfront escapes, and city-view delights, they have a bounty of choices fit for any swashbuckler.
Would you like a room with a kitchen to cook up your own culinary conquests? Or perhaps you prefer the luxury of a two-bedroom suite for you and your crew.
During our stay, we booked ourselves in a magnificent two-bedroom suite with a balcony that overlooked the ocean waves.
The kitchen was equipped with a full-sized refrigerator and dishwasher, perfect for storing our plunder and washing away the salt of the sea.
And, of course, my favorite: a balcony overlooking the majestic ocean, where I sipped my coffee and watched the sunrise from the comfort of my bed.
And, of course, my favorite: a balcony overlooking the majestic ocean, where I sipped my coffee and watched the sunrise from the comfort of my bed.
As for the views, matey, they’re enough to make even the hardiest sailor swoon.
Gaze upon the endless expanse of the North Carolina ocean, with sights that include the Kure Beach Pier or the charming streets of this seaside town.
No matter which room or suite you choose, you’ll be greeted with an abundance of space and a warm, beachy atmosphere.
Enjoy crisp linens as white as a ship’s sails, walls the color of a tranquil sea, and décor so minimalist even a pirate would approve.
And let’s not forget the large windows that frame those magnificent views, bringing the beauty of the ocean right into your quarters.
And what of the bathrooms, you ask? Ah, they’re a treasure trove of beach-themed amenities, from shampoo to lotion, each one designed to enhance your beach combing experience.
Friendly Service
The team at the Admiral’s Quarters were top-notch, especially the guest relations and front desk crew who made our check-in a breeze while actively ensuring we had everything we needed.
So, check-in time wasn’t until 4:00, but we rolled into town way before that.
Around 11:00, we figured we’d grab a bite and take in some sights to kill time.
We settled in for lunch at Jack Mackerel’s, just a block away from the Admiral’s Quarters. While waiting for our grub, I got a text from Guest Relations, confirming our arrival, asking about our ETA, and offering their assistance with any special requests.
I casually mentioned our whereabouts, hinting that if they happened to have our room ready ahead of schedule, we wouldn’t mind checking in early.
Their response? “Yes! You can come right on over once you’re done eating :)”
🎉🎉🎉 Cue the confetti! Talk about a win! 🎉🎉🎉
After braving the Raleigh to Kure Beach traffic, an early check-in was like a warm hug from an old friend, letting us unload our gear, freshen up, and hit the town without skipping a beat.
Now, when I stay at a budget-friendly spot, I’m not exactly expecting the red carpet treatment, but the Admiral’s Quarters blew us away with their stellar service and friendly vibes.
From the moment we walked in, to the complimentary water, and the easy access to local hot spots, my stay at the Admiral’s Quarters was nothing short of delightful.
Admiral’s Quarters Review: Cons
So, while I could easily nitpick some cons below, let me assure you, none of them would deter me, personally, from revisiting this spot.
Now, don’t get me wrong, the motel definitely needs to address a few of these quirks. And hey, some might even be deal-breakers for certain types of guests.
Here’s the rundown:
- No Elevators: Prepare for a bit of a stair workout if your room happens to be on the 2nd or 3rd floor. But hey, I considered it a built-in exercise routine!
- Limited Front Desk Hours: The front desk operates on its own schedule, not yours. Don’t expect 24/7 service. There’s a hotline for after-hours emergencies.
- No Onsite Dining: Hungry? You’d better pack some snacks or be prepared to dine out. Sure, there’s a mini cooler at the main office, but it’s not exactly a gourmet buffet. Time to get creative with those leftovers or visit the Islander Market.
- Kitchen with No Silverware: Don’t expect to find a silver spoon in the drawer. It seems the kitchen is going minimalist, so BYOS (bring your own silverware). And maybe a spare fork or two for good measure. Perhaps this will be changed with their current upgrades. (fingers crossed!) 🤞
- Limited 1st Floor Ocean Views: Your lower level ocean-front terrace comes with a bonus view of the parking lot. Not exactly the panoramic seascape you envisioned. While I think the upper balconies have a great view, I’d skip a lower level if the view is your reason to book.
- Room Renovation Required: While the room is clean enough, it’s not exactly fresh out of an interior design magazine. Think more beach side charm, less pristine luxury. Rusty fixtures and bathroom discoloration are common wear and tear of a seaside motel and will hopefully be addressed in their current upgrades.
So there you have it, a few quirks to consider, but nothing that would dampen my personal vacation spirits but I thought you’d like to be in the know just in case they could be an issue for you.
Pro tip: Renovations were being done on the property while we were there and are on-going to improve the aesthetics and room accommodations.
