Are you looking for a camping or glamping campground that feels like it’s in the middle of nowhere in the NC mountains, but has things to do nearby?
I have just the place for you!
This is my campground review of Growing Faith Farms in Moravian Falls, North Carolina.
Complete with where it’s located, amenities, what’s nearby as well as who it’s good for and who it’s not.
When Growing Faith Farms first reached out to invite me for a stay, I was immediately intrigued. A working farm in the Brushy Mountains with glamping tents, animal encounters, and flower fields?
Yes, please.

After checking out their site and chatting with the owners, I couldn’t wait to pack my bags.
From the moment I arrived, I knew this wasn’t going to be just another “content trip.” Tina and Joe, the husband-wife duo behind the farm, met me at the entrance (as per arrival instructions) and guided me nearly a mile down a winding road to the glamping site—hidden away in the quiet hills and surrounded by nature.
I ended up staying in their very first glamping tent, Bella
and spoiler alert:
I loved it so much I extended my trip by a day.

This wasn’t just a peaceful getaway—it was restorative.
A chance to disconnect
recharge
remember how good it feels to breathe mountain air
and wake up to birds instead of alarms.

🌟 Pros – What I Loved About Growing Faith Farms
There’s something incredibly grounding about this place. From the moment I arrived, I felt like I could exhale in a way I hadn’t in a long time. Here’s what stood out most:

- The owners are the real deal.
Tina and Joe didn’t just build a business—they built a mission and a sanctuary. You can feel their heart in every corner of this place, from the fresh flowers waiting for me inside the tent to the way they took time to help carry my bags to my tent and delivering fire wood. They’ve poured themselves into this property, and it shows. - Bella—the tent, not a person—is dreamy.
This glamping tent sits on a hill with a stunning view of the Brushy Mountains. It’s spacious and welcoming, with a real queen bed (and a twin), a table and chairs, cozy pillows, and vintage touches like a soft chair, a chest of drawers, and a wood-burning stove. Honestly? I had one of the best nights of sleep I’ve had in years. - That open-air shower though.
The bathroom for the Bella has a regular flush toilet (not a compost bucket!) and a partially open shower that lets you rinse off with a backdrop of greenery and rock wall. I know it might sound a little out there, but it was everything. Peaceful, earthy, and the epitome of glamorous camping. - Animal encounters without the chaos.
You can’t just go wandering into pens, but Tina will guide you through a feeding experience if you want one. I met Wiggles the duck who followed me around, Licorice the baby calf (only 3 weeks old!), Kevin Bacon the pig, Oreo the bull, and Jack the donkey. I swear Jack and Oreo are besties. - So many stay options.
In addition to my tent (Bella), there’s Kayla (with a full indoor bathroom), two yurts (bell tents), tent platforms, primitive camping sites, campers being renovated, and dispersed camping. There’s a 3rd glamping tent in the making. There’s even a gorgeous platform where they’ve hosted weddings, proposals and where I enjoyed doing my morning and evening yoga. - It’s quiet, safe, and solo-camper friendly.
As someone who wanted the experience of solo camping but never felt confident enough to do it on my own—this was the perfect in-between. I felt completely safe, supported, and empowered. It’s dog friendly too! - Option to pick flowers, meet the animals, attend workshops, and more
- The kitchen let me tap into my inner prairie girl.
Cooking meals outdoors in a fully equipped open-air kitchen with a propane stove, grill, and stocked drawers made me feel wildly capable and kind of like I was starring in my own gentle survival show. (you know, survival with propane and running water) 😀 My current survival speed.

🛏️ Rooms
🛏️ Rooms – My Stay in the Bella Tent
I stayed in Bella, the very first glamping tent that Tina and Joe designed—and let me tell you, this tent has personality.
Perched up on a hill with a killer view of the Brushy Mountains that I could see from sitting in my bed, Bella sits on the very spot where Tina and Joe once thought they might build their home. But somewhere along the way, they decided to open their hearts (and their land) to others.
And I’m so glad they did.
When I arrived, they helped me carry my things to the tent like the down-to-earth hosts they are, and inside Bella, I was greeted with a bouquet of freshly cut flowers from the farm’s garden and a handwritten welcome message on a chalkboard.

That little touch alone made me feel like I was stepping into something personal, not just a place to sleep.
Bella is spacious in all the right ways.
There’s a queen bed with extra pillows (love that!)
a twin bed for extra sleeping space, a table with chairs
a cozy reading chair in the corner
and a wood-burning stove in the other corner for chilly nights.
There’s even a vintage chest of drawers and an ottoman at the foot of the bed, which I didn’t expect but immediately appreciated because—let’s be honest—camping clutter happens fast.

It’s rustic, yes, but it’s also way more comfortable than I expected. There’s a generator-powered A/C unit (which I barely used because the mountain air did its job), and a second small generator inside the tent to charge electronics.
I brought my laptop and phone because, well, I’m me—but I will say this: I slept better here than I have in years.
No joke.
Something about the quiet, the fresh air, and the absolute absence of streetlights or traffic just hit the reset button on my nervous system.
Plus, I can’t discount the lore of the healing energy of Moravian Falls. Who knows. Maybe there’s something to the legends.

And then there’s the open-air kitchen and bathroom—but I’ll get to those in the next section because they deserve their own spotlight.
Bella made me feel cared for, comfortable, and oddly… capable. Like I could live a slower, simpler life and actually thrive in it. It was one of those rare stays that reminded me how good it feels to just be still and let nature do her thing.

The shower with a view of nature.

🐎 Love Valley
🤠 Day Trip Spotlight: Step Back in Time in Love Valley
If you’re up for a detour that feels like it came straight out of an old Western, Love Valley is an easy drive from Growing Faith Farms—and absolutely worth it. This quirky little cowboy town is unlike anything else in North Carolina.
Cars aren’t allowed past the entrance (just horses), and the main street is lined with wooden buildings, saloons, and hitching posts, making it feel like you’ve wandered onto a movie set. I’ve written a full article and created video content on Love Valley, and trust me—it’s a fun and unexpected gem to explore.
But here’s the key thing to know:

- When there’s an event happening, the town comes alive. You’ll find shops open, live music, locals on horseback, and a festive energy that’s straight-up magical.
- When nothing’s going on, it can feel like a ghost town. Most of the shops close up, and you might not see many folks out and about. That said, it’s the perfect time to snap some moody, Instagram-worthy photos without the crowds.
The one spot that seems to have a pulse either way is just down the road from the town entrance, The Misfit Corral—a local hangout that’s usually open for food, drinks, and fun conversations with the people who call Love Valley home (or who just never really left after visiting once).

🙃 Cons (Let’s Keep It Real)
Even the most magical getaways come with a few things to plan for—and honestly, these are more like helpful heads-ups than actual drawbacks.
🛒 No On-Site Store or Restaurant (Yet!)
You’ll want to bring your own food, drinks, and any specific supplies you need during your stay. There’s no restaurant or general store on the property—yet. Tina and Joe do have talked about the possibility of adding a small store in the future, and I’ll definitely update this post if or when that becomes a reality.

Bonus Tip:
If you love farm-fresh eggs, ask Tina—she may be able to sell you some straight from their chickens. Breakfast just got better.
🥾 No Formal Hiking Trails… But Plenty of Exploring
There aren’t marked hiking trails on the property (they’re working on it!), but the walk from the farm area to the glamping tents is a good little workout all by itself.
Plus, the land extends up the mountain behind the glamping area, and campers are welcome to hike and explore that area at their leisure. Just be aware that there are currently no marked trails.
(If you’re dispersed camping, this upper section is also available for setting up your site.)
🎯 Who Is This Stay For?
Perfect for:

- Couples looking for a peaceful getaway
- Solo travelers who want to feel safe while still enjoying the wilderness
- Families who are ready to unplug and explore
- Camping beginners (you’ll have creature comforts and real creatures)
- Anyone who wants to reconnect with nature without roughing it
- Content creators, artists, and photographers looking for inspiration
- Tent Campers
- Dispersed Campers
- Campers with a trailer 25 ft or smaller
May not be ideal for:

- People looking for high-energy nightlife or large city shopping nearby (this is more stars-in-the-sky than neon-lights-on-the-strip)
- Guests expecting hotel-style luxury or all-inclusive services
- Those who aren’t comfortable being a bit off-grid or cooking their own meals in an open-aired setting
- Campers with an RV over 25 Ft.
- If you require the use of a microwave
❓ FAQs
🧳 What should I bring?
You’ll want to bring your groceries, drinking water, snacks, and ice for the cooler. The outdoor kitchen is wonderfully stocked with essentials like pots, pans, utensils, a coffee pot, propane stove, and extra fuel—but food is up to you.
If you’re lucky, Tina might have farm-fresh eggs available for purchase. Just ask when you arrive!
Some other helpful things to pack:

- Flashlights or lanterns
- Multiple Spice Shaker – for extra flavor when cooking at your campsite.
- Battery-powered fan and solar-powered charger – The tent includes a generator (which is amazing), but if you’re staying longer or plan to work remotely (like I did), these will help conserve power
- Bug spray and sunscreen
- Comfy walking shoes (you’ll be doing some gravel road hiking)
- Layers—mountain mornings and evenings can be cool, even in summer
- A smores Kit (instead of buying way too much that you have to end up throwing out
- Retractable smores stick (a cleaner and more reliable way to cook over your fire)
- Camping shower shoes or flip flops to wear in the Bella outdoor shower. It has a natural drainage system with small rocks that could be uncomfortable on bare feet.
- A mini bag sealer to seal bags to help prevent ants from getting in or attracting wildlife.
- Ice for the cooler
- Camping First aid Kit (Just in Case)
- Camping Rain Gear
- Camping food storage Containers or ziplock bags for leftover food
- Camping Laundry bag for dirty clothes
- Drinking water (while there are some spots to get drinking water, it’s also good to have some bottled water on hand.
- Camping Safe Extension Cord – most sites have electric hook up, but you’ll want to bring an extension cord with extra outlets.
- Charcoal for the grill
🚿 What kind of bathroom will I have?
It depends on your setup:

- In the Bella glamping tent, you’ll have a private open-air bathroom with a flush toilet and a nature-view shower that opens to a stunning rock wall and greenery. Don’t worry—it’s private, peaceful, and now one of my favorite showers ever.
Prefer a more enclosed option? Bella guests can also use the shared bathhouse down the hill, which has three private indoor bathroom/shower rooms. - In Kayla, your bathroom is fully enclosed inside the tent with a flush toilet and regular shower.
- Yurts, tent platforms, and campers use the clean and private bathhouse nearby.
🥾 Are there hiking trails on the property?
There aren’t any official trails (yet), but campers are encouraged to explore. You can hike up the mountain behind the glamping area and dispersed campers are welcome to pitch a tent in that upper section. Even walking the road between your tent and the farm gives you that nice “earned your s’mores” feeling.
🐄 Can I interact with the animals?

Yes—with supervision. The animal pens are surrounded by electric fencing, so you’ll want to keep a respectful distance unless you’re with Tina. If you’re interested, she can arrange a guided animal feeding experience. You might meet the cows, pigs, donkeys, chickens, ducks—and maybe even a friendly duck named Wiggles who follows guests like a tour guide.
🐶 Can I bring my dog?
Yes, dogs are welcome—as long as they’re kept on leash and under control at all times. This is a working farm with livestock and electric fences, so keeping pets safe (and respectful of the animals) is a must.
Always check in with Tina ahead of time if you’re planning to bring a pet.
💻 Can I work remotely while I’m there?
You can! There’s Wi-Fi and cell service, and a generator in the tent to power devices. But just a heads up: I worked while I was there using my phone and laptop regularly, and I used up my generator charge in about two days. If you’re planning a longer stay or heavy device use, bring a solar charger or power bank to stay topped off. If you’re just streaming music or charging a phone occasionally, you’ll be fine.
🏕️ Glamping for Beginners: What to Know Before You Go

If you’ve always wanted to try camping—but the whole sleeping-on-the-ground-with-no-bathroom thing made you pause—glamping is your perfect entry point. And Growing Faith Farms makes it incredibly easy to ease into nature without giving up comfort.
Here’s what you should know:
- Bathrooms vary—but all have comfort in mind.
In Bella, I had my own private bathroom with a flush toilet and an open-air shower overlooking a gorgeous rock wall. If you’re not comfortable with the open-air setup, you’re welcome to use the bathhouse down the hill, which has three fully enclosed private bathrooms with showers and toilets. Other sites like Kayla and the bathhouse-equipped yurts offer indoor options as well. - Power is limited—bring backups.
There’s a generator in each glamping tent, but if you plan to work remotely or stay multiple days, I recommend packing a battery-powered fan and a solar charger. I worked from my laptop and phone while I was there and used up my generator’s charge in two days. It’s manageable—but planning ahead helps. - You may see animals—friendly and otherwise.
You’ll definitely meet some friendly farm animals (hello, Wiggles the duck and Licorice the calf!). But this is the mountains, so while I personally didn’t encounter any wildlife beyond the farm animals, I can’t promise you won’t cross paths with raccoons, squirrels, or even a curious bear. Just use common sense, keep your food stored properly, and you’ll likely be just fine. - It’s peaceful—but not isolated.
The glamping area is about a mile off the main entrance, so it feels very private. But Tina and Joe are just a call away and genuinely care about making sure your stay is both safe and enjoyable. - Even the tent platforms have electricity!
- Glamping tents and yurts come fully furnished.
If you’re staying in one of the glamping tents or bell tents (yurts), you’ll have real beds with fresh linens—no need for sleeping bags. However, if you book one of the tent platforms, you’ll need to bring your own gear, including bedding or a sleeping bag. - Glamping tents have private kitchens.
Only the glamping tents come with outdoor open-air kitchens, stocked with cookware, a propane stove, grill, sink with hot water, cooler, and even a coffee pot. It’s rustic cooking made easy—and honestly, it was one of my favorite parts of the stay. (Yes, I felt like a total off-grid queen making dinner under the walnut tree.)

If you’re new to camping or glamping, this is the kind of place that will help you ease in comfortably—without missing the magic of being surrounded by nature.
🍽️ Nearby Dining & Grocery Stops
While I loved cooking meals in my open-air kitchen at the tent (hello, prairie girl moment!), I also made a few local stops for groceries and good eats—and I highly recommend checking out some of these gems:
🛒 Groceries
Food Lion – Wilkesboro
This was my go-to spot for stocking up on supplies. It had everything I needed, from fresh produce to snacks and ice for the cooler. About 10 miles from the farm, it’s an easy stop either before you check in or mid-stay if you need a refill.
🍔 Comfort Food
Moravian Falls Grill – Moravian Falls, NC
A cozy, no-frills local spot with homemade comfort food that hits the spot after a day outside. I had a hand-pattied burger, fried okra, and mashed potatoes—and yes, I made room for their cherry cobbler for dessert. Worth every bite.
🍺 Brews & Historic Vibes
Two Bros. Taproom & Restaurant – Wilkesboro, NC
Housed in a beautiful historic building, this place immediately caught my eye. I kept it light with a caprese salad, but I’d come back again just for the ambiance. Great beer selection and a nice mix of elevated pub fare and small plates.
🍩 Sweet Treats & Coffee
Dixie Donuts – North Wilkesboro, NC
Such a fun little stop for fresh donuts, coffee, and even ice cream. Whether you need a caffeine boost before hitting the trail or just want to treat yourself, this place is a great option to have on your radar.

As a matter of fact, I already have my next trip planned!
Next time, I plan to stay in the Kayla tent just to switch it up a little, which has a full indoor bathroom setup.

But honestly?
I’d happily go back to Bella too. I really love that shower with the forest view!

🌿 The Wrap-Up
Growing Faith Farms isn’t just a glamping retreat—it’s a place built with purpose and devotion. From the moment I arrived, I felt not just welcomed, but cared for.
Tina and Joe have created something truly unique: a working farm where you can relax, reflect, reconnect, and maybe even rediscover a part of yourself you didn’t realize needed a break.
Whether you’re roasting marshmallows by the fire, showering with a mountain view, picking flowers in the sunshine, or feeding animals with Tina—it all adds up to a kind of peace that’s hard to find these days.
So if you’re looking for somewhere quiet, cozy, and a little bit magical… this is your sign to book the tent.
And who knows? Maybe I’ll see you there.
