6 Top Rated, Bryson City Restaurants on TripAdvisor

🍽 🍽 🍽

1. High Test Deli & Sweet Shop

A Bryson City Classic with Personality

If a restaurant has been around for over 18 years in a small town, you know they’re doing something right. But at High Test Deli & Sweet Shop, longevity hasn’t dulled its charm one bit. In fact, it’s quite the opposite.

Walk in, and you’ll likely be greeted by the owner himself, buzzing around behind the counter, bussing tables, and making everyone feel like an old friend—including me.

The vibe? Fun, quirky, and full of character—just like Bryson City itself.

The walls are decked out with colorful license plates, giving it a nostalgic, road-trip diner feel.

You can grab a seat at a table or cozy up at the bar, but let’s get to the important part—the food.

If you’re a fan of a good French Dip, do yourself a favor and order it here. Flavorful, hearty, and downright satisfying, it’s easily my go-to. High Test Deli proves that some things really do get better with time.

2. The Bistro at the Everett Hotel

The Bistro at The Everett Hotel – Exclusive Dining with a Historic Charm

Some restaurants make you work for the experience, and The Bistro at The Everett Hotel is one of them.

Nestled inside a beautifully restored historic property, this upscale spot isn’t the kind of place you can just stroll into on a whim.

There are two ways to score a table here:

✅ either be a guest of the hotel (lucky you!)

✅ or make a reservation at least seven days in advance if you’re just dropping in for a meal.

So, if you’re a planner, you’re in luck—otherwise, you’ll be staring longingly from the sidewalk like I have.

While I haven’t had the pleasure of dining here yet, I’ve heard enough rave reviews to know it’s worth the effort.

With an intimate atmosphere and a menu that’s known for both quality and creativity, The Bistro at The Everett Hotel is a top pick for those looking to elevate their dining experience in Bryson City.

Check out their website for the latest details, and if you manage to snag a reservation, consider me officially jealous.

3. Everett Street Diner

The Heart of Downtown Bryson City’s Breakfast Scene

When it comes to sit-down breakfast in downtown Bryson City, Everett Street Diner is the spot—literally, because it’s the only one.

But don’t let the lack of competition fool you into thinking they coast on convenience.

This place puts heart into every detail, from the warm, welcoming atmosphere to the food that tastes like it came straight from a Southern grandma’s kitchen (and trust me, that’s the highest compliment).

Stepping inside gave me instant nostalgia—it’s exactly the kind of place I would have gone to with my grandmother as a kid.

And the best part?

The owner doesn’t just run a restaurant; he runs the room.

On my first visit, I watched him effortlessly work the dining area, chatting with guests like they were old friends.

He didn’t make it to my table that day, but I won’t forget what happened at the one next to me.

A couple was celebrating their anniversary, and before they knew it, the entire diner was cheering them on, thanks to the owner’s playful and heartfelt tribute.

It’s that kind of small-town charm that makes Bryson City stand out—people here don’t just serve you a meal; they make you feel like you belong.

And speaking of the meal—let’s talk about that omelet. Delicious?

Yes.

But the real star of the show?

The biscuits and gravy.

I only intended to take a bite or two since it came with my meal, but one bite turned into two, then three… and before I knew it, I was scraping the plate clean.

If you’re looking for a breakfast that feels like home, this is the place.

🍽 🍽 🍽

4. River’s End

A Meal with a View

If you’ve ever taken the Great Smoky Mountains Railroad excursion to the Nantahala Gorge, you’ve probably seen River’s End without even realizing it.

Perched right on the edge of the river—literally hanging over it in some spots— this place has one of the best dining views in the area. Every table has a view of the river!

I’d passed it plenty of times before, but on my last trip, I finally made a point to stop in. And let me tell you, I could not have picked a better place for my final meal in Bryson City.

I was staying just a few minutes away at Gorgeous Stays, a super cool and friendly glamping campground (I highly recommend!) tucked in the mountains, and River’s End was the perfect way to wrap up the trip.

The star of the night?

Their pecan-encrusted trout.

Fresh, flaky, and topped with an orange-cranberry glaze that had me shamelessly savoring every bite. The trout came with Sherpa rice (a flavorful, nutty rice that paired perfectly) and zucchini and squash, seasoned so well I forgot I was eating vegetables.

And did I mention the view?

Every single table looks out over the rushing river, making it a must-visit spot for both the food and the scenery.

After wrapping up an adventure-filled day or just looking for a laid-back meal with a front-row seat to nature, River’s End lives up to its name—it’s the perfect place to enjoy a meal.

5. Pasqualino’s Italian

Big Flavors, Bigger Portions

Even in the off-season, I was surprised by how packed the dining room at Pasqualino’s Italian was—which is always a good sign.

Clearly, the locals and visitors alike know this place is worth it. After my experience, I can confidently say they’re onto something.

I went big and ordered the prime rib, and let me tell you—at only $32, I was expecting a solid meal, but what I got was a feast.

When they brought it out, I actually had to take a moment. This thing was massive. It was the size of my head and took up the entire plate, still had the rib bone attached, and was so tender and juicy that I barely needed a knife.

And let’s not forget the wine—none of those wimpy, barely-half-a-glass pours here. They serve it like they mean it.

By the time I left, I was full, happy, and still had enough leftovers to make for a whole second meal back at my hotel.

If you’re in the mood for classic Italian with generous portions, Pasqualino’s is where you want to be.

🍽 🍽 🍽

6. Jimmy Mac’s

A Popular Pick, But My Experience Missed the Mark

I always try to go into a restaurant with an open mind, especially when it comes highly rated on TripAdvisor. So when I wrapped up a hike on Noland Creek Trail, hungry and ready for a satisfying meal, I decided to give Jimmy Mac’s a try.

The ambiance? Perfect. Rustic antique décor, a warm and friendly vibe—exactly the kind of place that feels like a hidden gem in a small mountain town.

But, unfortunately, my meal didn’t quite live up to the hype.

I was excited to try the stuffed shrimp, which came in appetizer, lunch, or dinner portions. At over $15, I figured the lunch size would be both delicious and filling—especially since it came with a side.

I went with the side salad and eagerly awaited my plate. When it arrived, my excitement quickly faded.

Five tiny shrimp (big enough to barely fill a small spoon) sat on the plate, each topped with a bit of crab that was a little too crusty and overcooked.

The flavor?

Meh.

Not terrible, but definitely not what I’d hoped for.

My side salad ended up being the more satisfying and filling part of the meal, which is not exactly what you want to say about shrimp stuffed with crab that you’re looking forward to after a hike.

Now, don’t get me wrong—I’m not writing off Jimmy Mac’s.

One dish doesn’t define an entire restaurant, and I’ve heard plenty of great things about the place.

I’d love to go back and give it another shot.

But one thing’s for sure—I won’t be ordering the stuffed shrimp again.

Stay tuned for an update when I make my next visit!

Other Great Options

7. La Dolce Vita Bakery & Cafe

Morning Perfection with a Side of Small-Town Charm

La Dolce Vita holds an extra special place in my heart—not just for the food, but for the experience that came with it.

During my most recent trip, I stayed in a VRBO rental right above the café, which was already amazing in itself.

But the cherry on top?

My stay included a muffin and a cup of coffee every morning, plus 20% off anything else I wanted.

Now that’s the kind of perk I can get behind.

On my first morning, the barista recommended the blueberry muffin, so I took their advice—and I was not disappointed.

I originally planned to grab it to go and enjoy it in my room, but as soon as I stepped outside, I thought the cozy outdoor patio overlooking the GSMR tracks was the way to go.

With the quaint, small-town downtown vibe and the scent of fresh coffee in the air, I couldn’t resist soaking it all in right there.

If you’re looking for a charming, laid-back spot to start your morning in Bryson City, La Dolce Vita is it.

Are you’re staying upstairs or just passing through?

Either way I highly recommend grabbing a seat, a fresh-baked treat, and just taking a moment to enjoy the view.

La Dolce Vita Bakery isn’t just about the pastries and coffee—they also offer brunch and lunch options for those looking for something heartier.

From savory quiches to fresh sandwiches and salads, there’s plenty to choose from if you want a light yet satisfying meal to go with your latte.

Whether you’re stopping by for a quick bite or lingering over brunch, this charming bakery has plenty of options!

8. Mountain Perks

A Burst of Color and Flavor in Downtown Bryson City

If you find yourself in downtown Bryson City looking for a fun, quirky spot to grab breakfast or a mid-day pick-me-up, Mountain Perks is hard to miss.

Right across the street from the Great Smoky Mountains Railroad, it practically radiates energy before you even walk through the door.

The small outdoor seating area gives off cozy café vibes, but step inside, and you’re instantly transported to what feels like a Mardi Gras meets hippie-inspired coffee shop—bright purples, bold oranges, and an eclectic mix of local art covering the walls.

But let’s talk about the food.

Mountain Perks offers it all—breakfast sandwiches, pastries, coffees, smoothies, salads, and lunch sandwiches—basically, if you need fuel for an adventure-filled day, they have it.

I went with a sausage, egg, and cheese sandwich on a croissant, and let me tell you, it was perfectly made, buttery, filling, and absolutely delicious.

It hit the spot in all the right ways.

Grab a bite before hopping on the train or simply soak in the lively atmosphere. Mountain Perks is a great stop for a quick, satisfying meal with a side of personality.

🍽 🍽 🍽

9. Boxcar Cafe & Cones

A 50’s Diner with Big Flavor and Even Bigger Portions

If you love a good blast from the past (and a solid meal to go with it), Boxcar Café & Cones is the place to be!

This retro 50s-style diner is all about classic American comfort food, ice cream, and a whole lot of nostalgia.

The whimsical décor is part of the fun—just ask my camera roll, because you better believe I had a full-on photo shoot with Betty Boop right outside the door.

But let’s talk about the food. I went with the French Dip, and it was everything I wanted—savory, cheesy, and dunked in that rich au jus for the perfect bite.

My daughter, on the other hand, went for the BLT, and let me tell you, they did not skimp on the bacon. There was so much that we actually had leftovers to take back to the hotel—which, for the record, made for an excellent breakfast the next morning.

And of course, if you’ve got a sweet tooth, the ice cream counter is waiting.

If you’re on the hunt for a full meal or just a scoop of something cold and creamy, Boxcar Café & Cones is a fun, laid-back spot that’s as much an experience as it is a meal.

10. The Rice Wagon

Hawaiian Street Food

A Taste of Hawaii in the Mountains

Hawaiian street food in a small mountain town?

Now that’s something you don’t come across every day.

But The Rice Wagon, a Hawaiian street food truck tucked behind Mountain Layers Brewing, proves that good food knows no boundaries.

I’m not exaggerating when I say the portions are generous—we’re talking big, satisfying plates of island-inspired goodness that feel like a mini vacation for your taste buds.

In a town where Southern comfort food reigns supreme, finding authentic Hawaiian flavors is a total novelty—and honestly, I’m here for it.

Are you in the mood for poke?

loco moco?

or a classic plate lunch?

The Rice Wagon delivers bold flavors in every bite.

And if you can’t get enough? They also have a brick-and-mortar location in Cherokee, just a short drive from Bryson City.

It doesn’t matter if you’re grabbing a bite between brewery stops or making a special trip for those island vibes, The Rice Wagon is definitely worth a visit.

Pubs, Bars Breweries & Nightlife in Bryson City

A Small Town with Big Beer Energy

Did you know that Bryson is making a name for itself in the small-town beer scene?

That’s right—Bryson City was ranked #7 in the nation for its craft beer culture, outdoor vibes, and small-town hospitality.

And honestly, it makes perfect sense.

Spend the day hiking, rafting, or tubing in the Smokies, and by the time you’re back in town, a cold, local craft beer is practically calling your name.

So, where should you grab a pint? Let’s dive into Bryson City’s best pubs and breweries. 🍻

🍽 🍽 🍽

11. Mountain Layers Brewing

Brews, Views, and Small-Town Vibes

If you’re looking for a place in Bryson City where locals and tourists blend together over a cold pint, look no further than Mountain Layers Brewing Co. Perched right on Everett Street, this two-story brewery doesn’t just serve great beer—it serves great beer with a view.

And trust me, it’s one you’ll want to stick around for.

Downstairs, you’ll find the heart of the operation—a cozy bar wrapped around the brew house, making it easy to chat up the locals or strike up a conversation with the friendly staff about what’s on tap.

But the real magic happens when you head upstairs to the rooftop patio. On a nice day, the views of downtown Bryson City, the Tuckasegee River, and the surrounding mountains make for the perfect backdrop to sip and unwind.

And don’t worry if it’s cold—they’ve got an enclosed space to keep you toasty while you enjoy live music (yes, even in the off-season).

🍻Now, let’s talk beer.🍻

Mountain Layers keeps things interesting with a rotating selection of craft brews, from hoppy IPAs to smooth blonde ales and everything in between.

🍻

The Nydee Effret IPA brings a bold 6.5% ABV with just the right amount of bitterness, while the Hazel Creek Blonde Ale is crisp, light, and a little too easy to drink.

🍻

They’re always experimenting, so there’s a good chance you’ll find something new every time you visit.

One thing that sets this place apart?

The Honor and Remember Wall, a heartfelt tribute to military veterans and first responders, a reflection of the owners’ background in public service. It’s a reminder that this isn’t just a brewery—it’s a place with deep community roots.

And if you find yourself craving something to eat? The Rice Wagon food truck (mentioned above) is parked outside daily, ready to serve up delicious bites that pair perfectly with whatever’s in your glass.

Chat with locals downstairs

soak in the views upstairs

🍻 or just sip your way through their latest creations

Mountain Layers Brewing Co. delivers a laid-back, welcoming vibe that’s peak Bryson City.

12. Bryson City Brewing

Craft Beer, Cocktails, and a Whole Lot of Room to Chill

🍸

When a place has great beer, good food, and plenty of space to spread out, it’s already a win in my book.

But Bryson City Brewing isn’t just checking those boxes—it’s going above and beyond to create a hangout spot for everyone.

For starters, it’s got one of the biggest parking lots in town.

And if you’ve ever done the downtown Bryson City parking shuffle, you know that alone makes this place a gem.

But it’s not just about the convenience—this former RC Cola plant-turned-brewery is building something special.

It has:

🍻 an onsite brewery

🍽 a restaurant

🍸 and a full cocktail menu

but what really stands out is the welcoming, community-focused vibe.

Dog-friendly?

Yep!
Kid-friendly?

You bet!

There’s a pet and child yard, so both two- and four-legged guests can run off some energy while the grown-ups enjoy a drink.

And they’re not stopping there—on my last visit, they were in the middle of adding an outdoor entertainment space

and an indoor event area, which means this place is just going to keep getting better and better. One of the owners gave me a sneak peak of the construction of their new indoor space and trust me, it’s spectacular!

From laid-back meals, a craft beers, or just a finding a place to unwind, Bryson City Brewing is a solid bet.

And with all the new things in the works, I have a feeling I’ll be back soon—purely for research purposes, of course. 😉

🍽 🍽 🍽

13. Unplugged Pub

Live Music and Local Vibes

When I rolled into Bryson City, some of the locals I met invited me to Unplugged Pub for a live music night. At first, I was all in—but after a long day of exploring, exhaustion won the battle, and I didn’t make it.

Rookie mistake, I know.

From what I’ve heard, Unplugged Pub is one of the best spots in town for live music, drawing in both talented local musicians and traveling acts.

It has a laid-back, welcoming vibe, making it the kind of place where you can kick back with a drink and soak in the tunes.

One thing to note—on some nights, there may be a cover charge, so keep that in mind if you’re planning to check it out.

Lesson learned: next time, I’m making it a point to go.

Stay tuned for an update—I’ll be back for the music, the atmosphere, and maybe even a little redemption for missing out the first time.

🍽 🍽 🍽

14. Bryson City Outdoors

Gear Up, Chill Out, and Sip Local

If there’s one place in Bryson City that perfectly blends adventure and relaxation, it’s Bryson City Outdoors.

Every time I passed by, I couldn’t help but do a double take—a gear shop and a taproom in one? That’s my kind of multitasking.

While I didn’t get the chance to stop in this time, I’m definitely making it a priority on my next visit.

Let’s break it down:

The Gear: Whether you’re heading out for a hike, paddle boarding on Fontana Lake, or just looking for high-quality outdoor apparel, this place has the essentials. They rent kayaks and paddleboards and sell everything from hiking gear to apparel for the outdoor enthusiast who wants to be well-equipped without sacrificing style.

The Taproom: Once you’ve stocked up on gear—or, let’s be honest, even if you’re just here for the drinks—you’ll find 12 rotating taps pouring a variety of craft beers and ciders. Not in the mood for a draft? They also offer a selection of bottled and canned brews to keep things interesting.

The Vibe: With a large covered patio, it’s the kind of place where locals and visitors alike kick back, sip a cold one, and swap adventure stories.

Winding down after a long day outside or just looking for a laid-back place to enjoy a drink? From what I understand, this spot delivers.

While I didn’t get a chance to check it out this time, Bryson City Outdoors is officially on my list for my next trip. A place where you can prep for adventure and celebrate it afterward—sounds like a winning combo to me!

The Newest Restaurants & Bars in Bryson City

15. Wize Guyz Grille

Opened March 5th, 2025

Bryson City’s Newest Spot for a Bite

While wandering around downtown Bryson City, a local told me about a brand-new restaurant right across from the Swain County Heritage MuseumWize Guyz Grille.

I didn’t get a chance to eat there this time, but I did snap a photo and mentally add it to my “must-try next trip” list (which, let’s be real, is always growing).

Wize Guyz Grille has been a favorite over in Cherokee for years, serving up hand-pattied burgers, Philly cheesesteaks, fresh salads, and their legendary chili cheese fries.

Now, they’ve brought their comfort food goodness to Bryson City, and I’m definitely curious to see what all the buzz is about.

If you’re in town and craving something hearty and delicious, this might just be your next stop.

As for me? I’ll report back after my next visit—because you know I won’t be able to resist checking it out.

🍽 🍽 🍽

16. Native Brews Tap and Grill

Coming Soon! (hopefully!)

The Most Anticipated Opening in Bryson City

Some restaurants open quietly.

Native Brews Tap & Grill?

Not so much.

This spot has been long-awaited in downtown Bryson City, with plenty of buzz and a few setbacks along the way. But if you ask me, the best things are worth the wait.

🍻 Already a favorite in Cherokee, Native Brews is known for craft beer, hearty food, and a laid-back atmosphere. 🍻

Their Cherokee location serves up hand-pattied burgers, Philly cheesesteaks, and their famous chili cheese fries, and if their Bryson City menu follows suit, I have a feeling we’re all in for something good.

And let’s not forget the beer—Sunrise Hard Vanilla Spiced Ale and Native Girl Pale Ale are just a couple of the standouts from their lineup.

The exact opening date is still a bit of a mystery, but one thing’s for sure—as soon as they open, I want to be there!

Keep an eye out, because this might just become one of Bryson City’s new favorite hangouts!
